Thandanani Childrens Foundation has been seriously blessed this past school term. Seedlings Creche, Clarendon School, Hilton College, Epworth, St Johns and Merchiston all opened up their hearts and gave with great generosity and kindness.
Seedlings Montessori Crèche
Seedlings Montessori Crèche collected money for us in our little purple boxes, via their Water Wednesdays and their Friday Fresh Produce markets. They also visited Nqoba Creche where they played with the children for a morning and took tasty treats to share. At the end of the term, they celebrated by hosting a purple party where each child wore something purple to school and they did purple activities to celebrate their new relationship with Thandanani and 4kids. Each child was also asked to bring an item of clothing, a book or a toy which they would like to share with the children of Nqoba crèche.
Clarendon Primary also collected money for us in our little purple boxes. They joined us in a field visit to one of the caregiver’s homes where they took goodie bags of sweets and toys to the children in the neighbourhood. They spent the afternoon playing games, sharing sweets and making new friends. During June and July, they collected tinned food and blankets to help during the cold winter months.
The boys of Hilton College have had their hearts in the right place and have been doing fantastic work. The pupils of Churchill House collected 2 huge boxes full of clothes and donated funds amounting to over R2000 to Thandanani and 4kids. We have been discussing other ways in which the students can assist and look forward to growing our relationship.
Epworth School joined in again this year in our Crèche makeover project. They were joined by Deloitte’s and African Exposure who headed up the development. The crèche chosen this year was Inkululeko Pre-Primary. The girls did a marvellous job and really were not shy to get their hands dirty. They were digging holes, scraping paint, picking up rubbish and putting jungle gyms back together. The children of the school were all beaming with joy at their new, bright and happy crèche, somewhere they will be proud to attend every day.
St Johns had so much fun and got spotted in our #getspotted4kids campaign earlier this year with the Witness newspaper. They also knitted us some beautiful and snug blankets which have gone to the families in need.
The talented ladies of the Merchiston After Care knitted bags of colourful scarves and beanies 4Kids again this year. These brightened up those cold winter months for many children. Thank you ladies for your care and support!
